Phoebe is a Melbourne-based filmmaker creating drama and documentaries for big and small screens. Working primarily as a director, Phoebe has experience in short films, music video, factual pieces for online and corporate communications, and most recently in television drama.
Currently on the festival circuit is Phoebe’s most recent short film SWITCH. Produced by Brendan Lee and executive produced by Marc Gracie, SWITCH was supported by Screen Australia as one of three films to be made for the 2011 ‘Raw Nerve’ initiative in conjunction with Open Channel. Set in an outer-suburban skateboard park, the film explores the tension between two sisters, and features rising star Lucia Emmerichs (TANGLE), and music by Adalita. SWITCH has its world premiere at Byron Bay International Film festival in March 2012, and has so far received two international awards: at the LA Movie Awards, and Best Shorts awards also in LA.
Having completed a 12-week Film Victoria-funded directing internship on NEIGHBOURS in 2011, Phoebe has gone on to undertake an 8-week directing attachment on OFFSPRING Season 3.
Phoebe created the online documentary series EXTRAORDINARY – with 8 episodes slated, each profiling interesting women, commemorating the centenary of International Women’s Day. Episode 1: AMY is online and rapidly attracted over 6,500 views in its first few months online. Phoebe is invited to take the series to AIDC in Adelaide in March this year to develop the concept further.
